“Random Acts of Kindness Cost Nothing, But Bring the Greatest Reward”
Plan and execute one random act of kindness this week.
A few weeks ago, I spent the morning in the antiseptic confines of the Cleveland Clinic.
Of the hours I spent there, many were spent just waiting. I sat in the window of the coffee shop, looking out at the multitudes of people who passed by. I tried my hardest to guess why they were there. What they were experiencing. It reminded me of that amazing video the Clinic put out a couple years ago.
Often, I would be looking out and catch the eye of someone passing. At first, I would look away. Then, I decided to turn my morning into a random act of kindness.
Instead of looking away, I looked directly at the person walking by, and SMILED at them. I don’t mean a weak, flimsy smile … I mean a full-on SMILE.
Their reactions were priceless.
Yes, some probably thought I was crazy. But most gave the most genuine smile right back.
Our interactions may have been 5 seconds long. But they made a difference. By the time I left that coffeeshop, I felt on top of the world. I bet they did too. And they probably carried that feeling forward to others.
It cost me NOTHING. But those smiles made an impact.
Time for YOU to get out of your comfort zone and commit a random act of kindness this week. And we want you to take a photo and SHARE them with us!
Will you buy coffee for a stranger? Put money into a meter? Write a note and leave it on someone’s car? Check out Brad Aronson’s list, or the Random Acts of Kindness organization’s list. Or design your own.
This is all about you working those courage muscles, getting out of your rut, and giving to others.
WILL YOU DO IT??
Share your experiences in a special thread in our private Facebook community page. You will be inspired, and we will inspire you back.
Your team is here for you. Your tribe is here for you. Let’s do this.
