The past week has been monumental.
Marches across the country. The #metoo movement continuing onward. The Aziz Ansari story and the various reactions to it. The one-year anniversary of the Trump presidency, and the shutting down of our government. The debate over immigration.
The time is NOW for citizens everywhere – despite our individual political persuasions – to speak out and create the change that we want to see. Because, it is our right and obligation to do so. And we CAN create change.
Oftentimes we don’t speak up, not because we don’t have the passion or conviction, but because we are afraid.
Afraid of upsetting others who don’t agree, of calling attention to ourselves, to feeling uneducated and unworthy of having a true and valid opinion. Well … not this week!
This week’s Scare Your Soul Challenge is …
Find one opportunity to speak up about an issue you are passionate about.
Advocate for it, inform others about it. It could be on social media, with a friend or co-worker, or actively supporting a cause which matters to you which allows YOU to create change in the world.
And when you do, use hashtags #scareyoursoul and #speakup
Ideas for this week:
There’s gotta be a TED Talk about this, right? Of course there is.
Pull together friends from different political perspectives and host a conversation. Read a controversial article in advance and talk about it.
Learn more about women raising their voices politically and civically through All In Together.
Find out what national service opportunities are available in your state, and sign up.
