We all have routines in life. And many of those routines can be healthy.
But sometimes our “routines” become our “ruts.”
For me, when I get mired in a rut, it looks like this: wake up, brush teeth, shower, coffee, work, eat, yoga, eat, TV, read, brush teeth, sleep. And then all over again tomorrow. It can start to feel like Groundhog Day.
“74% of people say it’s important to try things we have never done before, even if it may not lead to a successful outcome.” – Kantar Consulting
Positive Psychology teaches us that changing our routines – even slightly – starts to impact neural pathways. So this week’s Scare Your Soul challenge – your choice of a simple or big one – is:
One day this week, choose a new and different way to and from work or school.
Get lost! Really. Get in the car or on the train, and go somewhere completely new to you. This is a gift to yourself, believe us. Get out and EXPLORE. Expand your horizons.
Bonus points: Share your experience! Take a photo and post it with hashtag #scareyoursoul, or post about it on your private Facebook Group.
As for me, I’ll be taking “getting lost” to a new level. This Friday, I’ll be flying to a foreign country, where a friend will be kidnapping me and taking me somewhere where I’ve never been. Not a clue where I will be going, or what I will be seeing. I’ll be sharing my travels via SYS Instagram Stories. Join me this week on my adventure, and I’ll look forward to see you get lost this week too.
