My ego and pride have always gotten in the way of reconciling a relationship gone south.
Although I understand the principles of taking responsibility for my part in the relationship, it’s easier said than done. For the Scare Your Soul Challenge, I committed to stepping out of the comfort zone to reach out to someone whom I owe an apology.
My apology was to a former colleague and business partner. We had founded a company together, ego’s kind of got in the way, and there was a lot of head-butting with a dear friend. It led us to go in different directions. One of my take-aways is that you want to get closure on anything from the past.
And when the Scare Your Soul challenge came up, I saw that as another opportunity to do this. So, I took the initiative. I shot out an e-mail. I got the response I was looking for, and the sweat is off my back.
The impact to me is to always remind myself not to hesitate. Move into fear. Don’t hold onto things.
Thank you to Scare Your Soul for allowing me to get there.
